River Valley Health & Dental Center
Located in the center of Williamsport, Pennsylvania, we serve the residents of the greater river valley community with comprehensive primary care (medical and dental) including specialized services for behavioral and reproductive health.
River Valley Health and Dental Center is a non-profit community-based health organization. Independently managed by a community board of directors, the Center is part of a network of other similar FQHC centers forming the largest primary care network in the nation.
River Valley Health and Dental Center is your "medical home" with primary care delivery that empowers providers and care teams to treat patients with respect, dignity and compassion. Above all, we seek to achieve primary care excellence and deliver care in the manner that best suits a patients' needs, in partnership with you and your family. We offer personalized care plans, coaching and encouragement, support and education.
Prompted by a community needs assessment in 2000, Susquehanna Health marshalled the resources to respond to the identified needs.
Two hospital departments (medical and dental) that were part of Divine Providence Hospital, a Catholic hospital, came together to form the clinic.
These departments then operated with a charity care policy, similar to the sliding fee scale, in use at the Center today.
After several years, the demand for services grew to the point where they could not offer services to new patients.
In 2006, the clinic was moved to space more easily accessible to Lycoming County's low-income population.
By 2009, Susquehanna Health and its community partners came to a shared understanding of the need for additional services giving impetus to the transition of the Center to an independent, non-profit entity meeting FQHC requirements.
