Berks Community Health Center
Berks Community Health Center (BCHC) is a private, non-profit Community Health Center. We opened our doors to patients in downtown Reading on June 4, 2012.
As the first Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) site in Berks County, BCHC was established thanks to the efforts of individuals and organizations committed to improving access to high-quality healthcare throughout the community.
BCHC received strong support from individual patients and community leaders, and from organizations like the United Way of Berks County, the Berks County Community Foundation, the Wyomissing Foundation, the Berks County Medical Society and the two local hospitals - Reading Health System and Penn State - St. Joseph's.
BCHC has grown quickly. Our second location in southwest Reading, which opened in August 2015, is adjacent to the Oakbrook public housing development, and is easily accessible from surrounding communities.
Services have grown, too. BCHC now provides OB/GYN, podiatry, optometry and integrated behavioral healthcare for our patients. As we look to the future, we see more locations ahead and even more services available for our patients.
To improve access and the health of our community through the delivery of coordinated comprehensive services for all residents of Berks County regardless of their economic status.
Berks Community Health Center is committed to improving the health of our community through the delivery and coordination of affordable, comprehensive, culturally sensitive patient- and family-centered healthcare.
